The Committee met last Fri to plan what to do in 2015. We feel we would need to take on some volunteers to help the Social Committee as there are potentially so many events we can attend and also we would hope to organise some trips in 2015. We are looking for 3 members to give us some of their time to help plan the events and possible trips to historical places in 2015. If it is over subscribed 3 will be selected and those who are will need to have some time on their hands.

The Association has been asked to supply 6 members in Uniform for the "Maynnooth 15" annual parade held every Ester Monday in Maynooth, we already have 3 so we are looking for 3 more, unfortunately 6 is all we have to provide and it will be the first outing under out new Association Colors.

Anyone interested email at the Association email address.

Ok folks the Association is proposing to run a Social night on Sat 12 Sept if we can get enough who want to attend one. In accordance with our Constitution it will have to be self financing so there will be a charge. At the moment we are not sure as planning is at a very early stage and no venue has been set but a charge of maybe €10 per person or 2 for €15 for you and your partner is been looked at which will include food and music.
At this stage we are throwing it out there to see if it's viable to run one, if there is very little reply it will be knocked on the head but it is hoped that enough people will want to get together to relive old times and enjoy a night of music and craic at the same time.
We are also looking at a days sea fishing, a day at a civilian shooting range and of course there is another Golf outing on Thurs 25 June in Elm Green, anyone interested please contact Christy at 087 7099506
or Jimmy at 08 52415287 as soon as possible to get your name on the card Same price as last time so get cracking with your name or you might loose out.

Those wishing to attend the social night please use the "Contact us" link on the website or PM J. Mullally on Facebook.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ok folks The Defence Forces have brought out what they call The Veterans Friday Club where those who have retired or left the DF for what ever reason can visit any Military Establishment on the last Friday of every month (next one is 29 June 2015) from 11.00 to 12.30 for Tea or Coffee and a chat. Please see the 5 Inf Bn Facebook page for the Official Poster.

You don't even have to go to your old Barracks, you can go to the nearset one to your home.

There is also a facility for those who served 21 years or more to get a DF ID  card for Retired veterans, this is a plastic card with your photo and details printed on it and is similar to what is issued to serving personnel, to avail of this you need to contact Area Records and make an appointment and they will look after you.

If you have an hour spare on the last Friday of every month why not visit and have a coffee, meet old friends and make new ones.
